WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

a good outfit is a huge key to incredible photos, so i’ve created this simple wardrobe guide to help you choose an outfit that will look incredible in photos and be a part of the story!

01/ Why it matters

02/ Options

You might show up to the location and realize your outfit doesn’t fit the mood or that the color isn’t working.

No matter how many outfits you’ll be wearing in the photos, I tell all of my clients to bring at least 3 options (per person)! That way we can always switch things up.

(BTW- you’ll most likely be changing in the car!)

Sometimes outfits that look amazing in real life can be distracting in photos.

Wearing something that fits the vibe of the location and the mood of the story being documented is a big key to getting the photos you’re dreaming of.

03/ Personality

One of the most important parts! Choose an outfit that feels like YOU! This isn’t the time to play dress up and experiment with your style. Make sure it’s something you feel confident in!

04/ Logistics

Keep in mind- I give direction not poses! So that means you’ll be running around, dancing, and moving around pretty much the whole time! Probably best to stay away from high heels or anything you have to constantly adjust!

Also- make sure to check the weather and dress for it! Nothing is more miserable than wearing a mini skirt in the snow- trust me.

05/ Movement

I’m a huge fan of a clothing piece that can add movement! Think flowy skirts, loose jackets, or a cool scarf! If your outfit can double as a prop to move around with your hands, you’re doing something right!

06/ Colors

Accessories are always a bonus, but I don’t suggest building your whole outfit around them because you’ll most likely be taking them off and on! If it doubles as a prop- that’s the magic!

A hat can be a great accessory, but bring it as a bonus so you can take it off and still avoid hat hair!

As far as jewelry goes, keep it simple! Large and flashy pieces can be pretty distracting and take away from the images.

Most patterns are a no-go, but there are some that do look good in photos!

Stay away from: thick stripes, large polka dots, chevron, and big florals

Stick to: thin stripes, subtle florals and polka dots, or neutral plaids.

I typically prefer a light, warm, and neutral color palette! Whites & creams, warm browns, and pastel colors are usually the most versatile and look best!

Definitely stay away from anything fluorescent or neon- they are almost always way too distracting in photos!

08/ Accessories

09/ Hair & Makeup

Simple Simple Simple! That’s really all that’s necessary. Bold glamour rarely fits the mood for the types of images I create, so keep your look subtle and most authentic to you!
